Where do I go from here? Career transitions and opportunities

Max is an emergency medicine and aerospace medicine physician, currently serving as the consultant for aerospace medicine at the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.  He provides clinical, physiologic, and operational inputs in order to optimize aircrew performance while balancing aeromedical risk for Air Force pilots and special mission operators.  Additionally, Max serves as a core clinical faculty for the Aerospace Medicine Residency and is in charge of educating 13 residents as the clinical coordinator for the Aerospace Consult Service rotation.  He also serves as the program manager for the US Air Force aeromedical waiver guide which provides clinical guidance for over 25,000 aviators and operators on clinical conditions impacting aviation safety for 147 medical conditions.

 

Max retired from active duty service in the US Air Force in 2020 where he served roles as an emergency medicine physician, flight surgeon, Critical Care Air Transport Team physician, and Surgical Resuscitation Team member.  His professional interests include prehospital trauma care, human performance optimization, and organizational risk assessment/mitigation. He lives in Dayton, Ohio with his wife and 4 children.
