Deadline for Board of Director Applications

 

It is time to elect our new Board members!

 

The office of President Elect is open and so is GSACEP Resident Representative. There are 3 openings for Councillor.  (Details of offices below).

Deadline to submit your name, CV and a statement explaining why you qualify and what you hope to accomplish (please confine this to about 250 words) is due no later than December 15.  

Candidates will be notified of their selection by end December.   The Elections Committee is currently comprised of the Chapter President, selected Past Presidents, and the President Elect.

Ballot goes online at gsacep.org on January 12.  In accordance with our Bylaws, winners will be announced no later than Feb.12.   Board of Directors Meeting is March 12 in Washington, D.C. at The Leadership and Advocacy Conference.  Newly elected members assume office at the Board Meeting.

Qualifications

 

 To run for the office of President Elect, a member must be willing to make a three-year commitment.  While the responsibilities of the President Elect are at the discretion of the President and Board, he/she is the acting chair when the GS President is not available, and has been responsible for the GSACEP Awards Committee in recent years.   After a year, the President Elect automatically assumes the role of President at the annual chapter meeting.  He/she becomes Immediate Past President year 3.

    In order to qualify, you must be an Active Member of GSACEP, and should have knowledge of the chapter.  To qualify, a candidate will have done some of these: Served on a GSACEP committee; been faculty at the GSS Conference; contributed to the newsletter EPIC; helped write or develop a chapter grant; assisted at the GSACEP booth; in some other,

way, shown interest and involvement. 

      

GSACEP Councillor is a two-year term. He/she is expected to attend (at his/her own expense, except under unusual circumstances) The ACEP Council Meeting in conjunction with ACEP's Scientific Assembly. The Councillor is a full Board member, and is expected to participate in Board conference calls and live meetings.  There are generally two live meetings a year and four conference calls.

Knowledge of the ACEP Council is invaluable in applying for this position as well as knowledge of the chapter. To qualify, a member must have done at least one of these:

Served on a GSACEP committee; been faculty at the GSS Conference; contributed to the newsletter EPIC; helped write or develop a chapter grant; assisted at the GSACEP  booth; in some other, positive way, shown interest and involvement in chapter efforts.

 

Active members vote for these positions.     

 

The Resident Representative ideally is a two-year term.  The Resident Rep is a full Board member, and is expected to  participate in all Board conference calls and live meetings.  He/she represents an important aspect of the GS membership and should be active in his/her residency, and a voice for his/her fellow residents.
